Nowhere to Run

by Colin Bass

/

about

This track was recorded as part of the sessions for 'At Wild End' but wasn't included as I felt it was too 'apocalyptic' - it was inspired by a dream I had, a bad dream - but, for some reason, it seems to fit now, so here it is. It features some fine organ playing from the late Guy LeBlanc, drums by Dave Stewart, arpeggio guitars from Ben Mandelson, and some big power sprongs from Andrew Latimer. The rest is my fault.

lyrics

We keep on running
Running out of time
We keep on going
Going out of style
And we've got to keep on singing
Though we're running out of rhyme
And the clock ticks on the wall...
Now the world is falling down around our ears
And we can't escape the spirit of the time
And you know we'll be found guilty
By the children of future years
For when all is said and done
There is only one
World we're living on
And there's nowhere else to run
There's nowhere to run
Standing in line
Put up your hands
You spend too much time
With your head in the sand
They're coming for you
They spy through your walls
They know what you're thinking
They controlling it all
The wires are all crossed
And dark tides are turning
Reason is lost
And the temples are burning
Things fall apart
Things fall apart
Drowning in debt
You push and you shove
And whatever you get
Is never enough
but there's nowhere to run
And something is coming...
